The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators has announced two Continuing Professional Development courses for August 2026 aimed at strengthening the practical skills of mediators and other professionals involved in conflict resolution.

The programmes, Psychology of Mediation and Mediating Communal Conflicts, will be delivered virtually via Zoom and are open to mediators, legal practitioners, human resources professionals, public servants, security professionals, community leaders, academics and other persons interested in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

The Psychology of Mediation course is scheduled to hold on August 14, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will attract 10 CPD units.

According to ICMC, the course is designed to help participants understand the psychology underlying conflict, emotions, decision-making and communication, with a view to achieving more effective mediation outcomes.

The course fee is ₦50,000 for ICMC members and ₦70,000 for non-members.

The second programme, Mediating Communal Conflicts, will hold on August 26 and 27, 2026, with sessions scheduled between 9 a.m. and 12 noon and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Participants in the programme will earn 20 CPD units.

ICMC said the course will provide practical knowledge and skills for addressing complex communal, ethnic, religious and community-based disputes while promoting sustainable peace and constructive engagement.

The fee for the Mediating Communal Conflicts programme is ₦100,000 for members and ₦120,000 for non-members.

The Institute said the August CPD calendar is designed not merely to enable professionals to accumulate continuing education credits but also to deepen their expertise and improve their effectiveness in real-life conflict situations.

Participants are expected to benefit from experienced ADR practitioners while strengthening their mediation and negotiation skills, professional credibility and career prospects.

Both programmes will be conducted through Zoom, allowing participants to attend from different locations.

Payments are to be made to the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators through its Zenith Bank account, 1012451855.

Interested participants may contact the Institute on +234 703 4988 058 or through icmccpd@gmail.com and support@icmcng.org for registration and further enquiries.

ICMC encouraged professionals seeking to remain relevant and competitive in mediation and conflict-resolution practice to take advantage of the programmes, stressing that continuous professional development remains an important investment in professional excellence.
