The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) Nigeria has announced that it will be hosting the largest Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) conference in Africa on the 25th and 26th of November, 2024.

The conference, which will also feature the induction of new professional members, is set to bring together some of the greatest minds in the history of ADR in Africa.

The two-day event will take place in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, and is expected to attract a diverse range of participants, including legal practitioners, business leaders, academics, and government officials from across the continent.

According to the ICMC, the conference aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the field of ADR, as well as to explore ways to promote its wider adoption as a viable means of resolving disputes in various sectors of the economy.

“We are excited to be hosting this landmark event, which we believe will play a significant role in shaping the future of ADR in Nigeria and Africa as a whole,” said a spokesperson for the ICMC. “We look forward to welcoming participants from all over the continent and beyond, and to engaging in meaningful discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions that will help to advance the cause of ADR in Africa.”

The conference program is expected to feature a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions, with a focus on topics such as the role of ADR in promoting access to justice, the use of technology in ADR, and the application of ADR in specific sectors such as construction, energy, and finance.

As part of the conference, the ICMC will also be inducting new professional members into its ranks, in recognition of their contributions to the field of ADR and their commitment to upholding the highest standards of practice.
