A former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb (UK), has extended heartfelt congratulations to the leadership and members of the NBA Oron Branch on the occasion of its maiden Law Week.
In a goodwill message to mark the milestone event, Akangbe commended the Branch’s Executive and Planning Committee for organizing what he described as a historic gathering focused on critical national issues.
He particularly lauded the choice of theme — “Understanding the Nigerian Lopsided Federation in Reshaping the Future” — describing it as both “timely and courageous.”
According to him, “History tells us that a federation which does not uphold equity and justice cannot endure the test of time. By choosing to address the structural imbalances that have long hindered national unity and development, you are helping to pave a better path for the future.”
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria expressed hope that the event would serve as a springboard for deeper reflection and advocacy on the need for a fair and inclusive Nigerian federation.
“May this inaugural event inspire ongoing reflection, advocacy, and action toward a truly balanced and inclusive Nigerian federation. History is watching, and posterity will surely remember your efforts,” he stated.
