Indisputably, today’s gathering can be best described as show of solidarity as the environment witnessed the influx of Judicial giants, top traditional rulers; opinion leaders, member of the bars; Judicial staff, friends; family and well-wishers gathered to grace the book launch in honour of an astute Jurist, Justice Babatunde Adejumo, OFR (Retired), the immediate past president of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria.

The book offers an in-depth analysis of the landmark judgments of an intellectual giant and one of Africa’s most prolific jurists on labour and employment law. The book also chronicles a meticulous and comprehensive selection of notable cases spanning Hon. Justice Adejumo’s sterling career on the bench.

Chairman of the occasion, Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Rilwan Oba Akiolu, expressed satisfaction with the quality and the content of the book that it would serve as a reference point and great contribution to the body of knowledge, recommended the book for every library.

The book reviewer Dr Paul Ananaba, SAN stated that Justice Adejumo (Rtd) as a quintessential jurist utilized law for it real purpose in the interest of fairness and justice, and salutes the authors for the initiative.

He further maintained that readers will be immersed in the perspicacious interpretation of Law, which depicts Hon. Justice Adejumo’s brilliance in the application and mastery of the Law.

One of the editors of the book, Justice Kenneth Amadi who spoke after the event stressed that he was motivated to edit the book as a chronicle of the Judgments and speeches for the usefulness of the bench, bar and the general public and to bring to light the honoree’s effort in repositioning the labour Jurisprudence in Nigeria.

Prominent guests and Jurists that graced the occasion were the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Gov. Ikedi Ihedioha represented by director Imo state liaison office, Lagos state; the acting president, National Industrial Court of Nigeria, His Lordship, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip ably represented by Hon. Justice A. N. Ubaka, Judges of the Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, Chief Magistrates and many dignified Senior Advocates, captains of industry to name a few.

Eminent Jurists from the Industrial Court are, Hon. Justice O. A. Obaseki-Osaghae, Hon. Justice R. B. Haastrup, Hon. Justice Dele Peters, Hon. Justice Kenneth Amadi, Hon. Justice Ikechi Nweneka, Hon. Justice Sanusi Kado, Hon. Justice P. A. Bassi, Hon. Justice Mustapha Tijani.
