God is Good Motors (GIGM), a prominent Nigerian transportation company, has confirmed that passengers traveling on one of its buses from the Utako terminal in Abuja to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were abducted en masse by unknown kidnappers on Friday, October 11, 2024.

The company released an official statement at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, following mounting pressure and criticism on social media from the families of the kidnapped passengers regarding GIGM’s initial silence on the matter. In the statement, GIGM expressed deep concern and sympathy for the affected families.
According to the account provided by the bus driver, who was released along with a nursing mother whose crying baby was spared by the kidnappers, the incident occurred during the journey from Abuja to Port Harcourt. The driver and the woman reported the kidnapping to the anti-kidnapping unit in Port Harcourt around 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
“We write with deep concern and compassion to the families, loved ones of our guests, and the general public regarding the unfortunate kidnapping incident involving our bus en route from Utako to Port Harcourt on October 11,” GIGM stated.
The company assured the public that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies and remains committed to ensuring the safe return of every abducted passenger. GIGM further mentioned that the bus driver is currently assisting the police with their investigations to facilitate a quick resolution of the case.
This disturbing incident has sparked significant outrage among the public, particularly those whose family members and friends were on the ill-fated bus. Social media platforms have been inundated with posts demanding swift action to secure the rescue of the kidnapped passengers.
