The NBA Branch Election Appeal Committee (North) has released a summary of its decisions on petitions received against candidates vying for various positions in the NBA Garki Branch elections.

The committee’s findings have led to the disqualification of several candidates due to their failure to meet the required criteria.

Among the notable disqualifications are Omotayo Olanrewaju Ojo and Victor Giwa, both contesting for the position of Chairman. The committee found that they did not provide evidence of attending the mandatory five meetings within the 12 months immediately preceding their nomination.

Hannah U. Umaru, aspiring for the Vice Chairman position, was also disqualified for lacking evidence of meeting attendance and not attaining the minimum of 10 years at the Bar required for the office. Similarly, Kanu Chibukem Imo and Ogechi O. Duruaku, vying for the Secretary position, failed to meet the meeting attendance requirement.

Chidiebere C. Onyechere, contesting for the Assistant Secretary position, was disqualified for not providing evidence of meeting attendance and not meeting the minimum of three years at the Bar required for the office. Love O. Obiezu, aspiring for the Treasurer position, was also disqualified due to the lack of evidence of meeting attendance by both her and her nominators.

However, the committee found Anthony Bamidele Ojo (Chairman), Damilola V. Alabi (Publicity Secretary), and Rosemary O. Ogazi (Welfare Secretary) to be qualified for their respective positions.

The committee, chaired by Abdul A. Ibrahim SAN, with Oluronke Adeyemi as Secretary, stated that a fuller reason for the decisions would be communicated to the parties no later than Friday, June 21, 2024.
