The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the full 100-member Planning Committee that will organize the 64th Annual General Conference slated to hold from August 23-30, 2024 in Lagos State.

In a statement released on May 9, 2024, NBA President Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN revealed the names of the lawyers appointed to serve on the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC).

The committee, chaired by Mrs. Oyinkan Badejo-Okusanya with Amina Suleiman Kaoje as Alternate Chair, has been charged with delivering a “world-class and memorable” conference for Africa’s largest professional association of lawyers.

Other prominent members include senior advocates Dr. Tunde Ajibade, SAN, FCIArb; Sylva Ogwemoh, SAN; Olawale Fapohunda, SAN; and Dr. Agada Elachi, SAN among several other respected legal practitioners from across Nigeria’s geographic zones.

The committee also includes ex-officio members who are national officers of the NBA such as the General Secretary, National Treasurer, Publicity Secretary and Chairs of key NBA sectoral groups and affiliates.

In his statement, Maikyau thanked the committee members for accepting the call to serve and urged all branches and members of the NBA to fully cooperate with the AGCPC towards a successful 2024 conference in Lagos.

The NBA’s Annual General Conference is the flagship annual event that convenes thousands of lawyers from Nigeria and abroad for a week of meetings, continuing legal education programs, exhibitions and gala nights.

The 2024 edition holding in August will be the first time in five years that the conference returns to the economic and commercial hub of Lagos.
