The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has released the final list of candidates qualified to contest in the 2024 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) General Elections. The list includes candidates vying for various national officer positions as well as representatives to the General Council of the Bar.

The list of candidates include:

– Three candidates are running for the position of NBA President: Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN; Chukwuka Nwabueze Ikwuazom, SAN; Mr. Tobenna Chigbo Erojikwe.

– Six candidates are vying for the position of First Vice President, while two candidates each are contesting for the roles of Second Vice President and Third Vice President.

– The positions of General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Secretary, Publicity Secretary, and Assistant Publicity Secretary each have multiple qualified candidates.

– Eleven candidates will be contesting to serve as NBA Representatives to the General Council of the Bar, representing the Eastern, Northern, and Western zones of the country.

The ECNBA, chaired by Oluseun Abimbola, SAN, with Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahim serving as Secretary, released the list on May 31, 2024. The general elections are expected to see active participation from NBA members nationwide as they cast their votes to select the next set of leaders to steer the association forward.
