Nigeria has been gripped by a surge in violent crimes in recent days, raising concerns over escalating insecurity across the country.
In Lagos, CCTV footage captured the brazen daylight robbery of a man identified as Gbenga Obama along Fadeyi Aladura Street, Ikeja. The video shows assailants forcibly dispossessing him of his gold jewellery before fleeing the scene, highlighting fears of rising street crimes despite existing security patrols in the area.
In a separate and alarming incident, Nigerian singer Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, was reportedly stabbed during a robbery in Lagos on Wednesday. The 29-year-old music star lost jewellery worth millions of naira to the attackers, who allegedly stabbed him in the neck during the attack. Fans quickly took to social media to express shock and offer prayers, though neither Lil Kesh nor the Lagos State Police Command has issued an official statement as of this report.
Lil Kesh rose to fame in 2014 with his breakout hit Shoki and has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s street-hop music scene, collaborating with top artists such as Olamide, Davido, and Wizkid.
Meanwhile, tragedy struck in Enugu, where Nollywood filmmaker and producer Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, widely known as Vic Matt, was kidnapped and killed. Okoli was abducted on Friday night in the Ntachi Osa area of New Haven, Enugu. His lifeless body was later found by the roadside, sending shockwaves through the Nollywood industry and the wider public.
