Anosike, a former member of the NBA Ebonyi State Branch Governing Council and a former National Officer of the NBA, stated that the money was delivered by an agent of Ede S. Edo Esq., the current Chairman of NBA Abakaliki Branch.
Upon discovering the gift, Anosike immediately recognized the connection to a recent controversy within the NBA Abakaliki platform. The controversy stemmed from a donation made by the Ebonyi State Government to Chief Ebele Nwokoye in celebration of his recent nonagenarian birthday.
In his letter of return, Anosike expressed his gratitude for the recognition but emphasized his ethical stance: “I am not interested in having a share of money meant for another person without his knowledge and consent. Therefore, I am returning this gift.”
