The National Executive committee of FIDA NIGERIA has said that the 3-woman committee which was constituted by Justice Peace Otti for Fida Anambra was unconstitutionally set up and therefore stands dissolved.

This was contained in a rejoinder signed by National President of the Organization, Rhoda Prevail Tyoden, and the National Secretary, Evelyn Membere- Asimiea. In the rejoinder made available to TheNigerialawyer (TNL), the National Executive expressly stated that FIDA NIGERIA upholds dearly her Constitution and rule of law and will not take any breach of her constitution lightly; therefore, members of the Caretaker committee are forthwith directed not to operate or parade themselves as the Caretaker committee of FIDA NIGERIA, Anambra State Branch.

“The attention of the National Executive committee of FIDA NIGERIA has been drawn to the news of a 3-woman caretaker committee set up to run the affairs of FIDA ANAMBRA Branch. We wish to categorically state that the 3-woman committee was unconstitutionally set up and therefore stands dissolved. The general public and the entire members of FIDA NIGERIA are advised not to deal with this caretaker committee.

“Members of the Caretaker committee are forthwith directed not to operate or parade themselves as the Caretaker committee of FIDA NIGERIA, Anambra State Branch. FIDA NIGERIA upholds dearly her Constitution and rule of law and will not take any breach of her constitution lightly. All members of FIDA NIGERIA, Anambra Branch are therefore to return to status quo until the National Executive committee conducts an election at the shortest possible time,” it was affirmed.

Responding to the statement from the National, FIDA Anambra said that Executive is no longer relevant since they have failed to do the needful.

“We the Concerned Members of FIDA Anambra have lost Faith in your Executive Since the Peace that was brought to Fida Anambra on Tuesday didn’t go down well with your executive.

For the avoidance of doubt, Section 9 (5) of the FIDA Constitution provides: “Each Branch shall be autonomous to the extent of the running of its affairs. However, all Branches within a State must operate within the objectives of the Association and her code of conduct.”

TNL recalls that the Justice Peace Otti had earlier constituted a three-woman committee to handle the affairs of FDA Anambra branch.
