The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is set to commence the construction of a new headquarters for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Maitama District of Abuja.

According to Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to officially flag off the project next week.

This development comes as part of broader efforts by the Tinubu administration to mark its second year in office with the completion and initiation of key infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory.

In May, Wike had disclosed that the president would inaugurate several completed projects and launch new ones to commemorate his administration’s second anniversary.

Ongoing and upcoming projects under the FCTA include:

  • The newly renovated Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC)
  • Bus terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi
  • The Apo-Wassa Road
  • The N16 interchange and connecting roads from Maitama through Katampe to Jahi
  • Inner northern expressway from Ring Road 3 (Idu to Kubwa road)
  • CN8 from N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to the Court of Appeal
  • N20 flyover on Connext Kubwa road
  • Life Camp junction to Ring Road III

Other projects also listed are the Kabusa-Takushara and Kabusa-Ketti access roads, a new access road in Giri District, a 15km stretch from A2 Junction (Abuja-Lokoja Road) to Pai in Kwali Area Council, and road upgrades in Ushafa, War College, and the army checkpoint in Bwari Area Council.
