The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 29-year-old Ulagu Philemon Chukwuma for masterminding the kidnapping of his employer’s 12-year-old son, Justin Nwakwo, and collecting N3.9 million as ransom.

Justin was abducted on February 10th in the Jabi area of Abuja. The police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that Philemon works as a chef for the Nwakwo family and conspired with one Donald Arinze, now at large, to commit the crime.

Officers of the Utako Police Division rescued the boy unhurt and recovered the cash sum extorted from his father. Philemon has since confessed to the crime.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igwe, reiterated his commitment to ensuring safety in the territory and encouraged residents to involve the police in profiling their domestic workers. He noted the new trend and pattern of kidnappings perpetrated by domestic staff.

CP Igwe urged residents to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines – 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspect involved in Justin Nwakwo’s abduction.
