As the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) gathers in Ilorin for its Annual General Conference, distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb(UK), has extended a warm welcome and goodwill message to all participants.

In his message, Akangbe congratulated the National Executive Committee and members of MULAN for organizing the high-level gathering and praised their commitment to national dialogue on law, religion, and technology.

This year’s theme, “Artificial Intelligence, Law and Religion in Nigeria,” he said, is both timely and profoundly important, particularly as AI continues to reshape global systems.

“As AI continues to shape our world, it’s essential that we reflect on how it fits into our legal system and aligns with our values as Muslims,” Akangbe noted. “This conference offers a great opportunity to have those honest conversations, share knowledge, and learn from one another.”

Emphasizing the need for harmony between faith and innovation, Akangbe urged participants to view religion and technology not as competing forces, but as complementary tools for justice, ethics, and national growth.

“We are at a point where our faith and technology must speak to each other, not compete,” he stated. “I pray that Allah (SWT) blesses our deliberations with wisdom and clarity.”

Akangbe also wished the association continued unity, growth, and impact in its mission to uphold justice while staying true to Islamic values.

The MULAN Annual General Conference, hosted in the calm and historic city of Ilorin, is expected to feature robust discussions on legal practice, Islamic jurisprudence, and the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.
