Confirming the situation in the department, the Head of Chamber, Mba E. Ukweni and Associate, Ntufam (Onun) Mba E. Ukweni (SAN) regretted the situation. “We went to the e-library and the e-library is not functioning because the necessary tools and facilities required for it to function effectively are not available, I will discuss with authority concern to see how they can get in touch with people who are conversance with that particular areas of learning to also come in to their assistance” he stated. Ukweni told our correspondent shortly after inspecting the facilities in the department, “though the Faculty has improved but there is still room for improvement, for instance, I have seen that they are crying for current Law Reports and books, because most of the Law Reports stopped in 2013 and 2014, so they need 2015, 2016 and 2017 which by the grace of God, we shall ensure that those particular set of Law Reports are made available to them.” The Head of Chamber who presented sets of Nigerian Supreme Court Quarterly Law Reports (NSCQLR), All Federation Weekly Law Reports (ALL FWLR), Nigerian Weekly Law Reports (NWLR), said he promised to make available to the Faculty four sets of Law Reports, namely, Nigerian Supreme Court Quarterly Law Reports (NSCQLR), Nigerian Weekly Law Reports (NWLR), Weekly Reports of Nigeria (WRN) and All Federation Weekly Law Reports (ALL FWLR) for use. He said he undertook to make available to the Faculty, the Law Reports for the next five years, starting from 2017 to 2021 explaining that the Acting Dean of the Faculty Dr (Mrs) Rose Ohiama Ugbe has already discussed with him about the problem of faculty that may affect accreditation if intervention is not done immediately. “Others, including my lecturers have approached me on the same issue and requested for intervention in the area of donating current law reports. I tried to plead at as then, since I was just tried to recover and requested that I should be given up to next year but the pressure was on me” Receiving the Books, the Acting Dean of the Faculty Dr (Mrs) Rose Ohiama Ugbe expressed profound gratitude to the donor for the kind gesture, “we made request during our dinner and you promised and have leave up to it. As alumnus of this faculty, University has done so much for us, it is through here that make us what we are today because if you didn’t have this foundation, you shouldn’t have been SAN today, by grace of God, I wouldn’t have been a Dean today”. “So the system has really impacted on us and we really need to plough back and I thank you because you are one of the few that realized that and we thank you very much and we hope that you are going to be a shining light for others” she stated.]]>
