Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has avoided imprisonment after being sentenced for assaulting his former girlfriend, Amie Mayson, during an argument in South London.

Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday imposed a 12-month community order on the 30-year-old footballer after he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Magistrate Brij Kalia also ordered Ibe to complete 80 hours of unpaid work and participate in 27 days of rehabilitation activities.
The former England Under-21 international was further ordered to pay £764, comprising a £114 victim surcharge and £650 in court costs.
The court heard that Ibe assaulted Mayson outside her home in Lambeth on December 14 after she confronted him over money she claimed he owed her.
Prosecutor Aya Alshekhili told the court that Ibe responded, “No, I’m going to be a prick,” when Mayson demanded repayment.
Mayson subsequently threw muffins Ibe had brought to the ground and called him a “druggy,” prompting the footballer to grab her arm and hair.
Ibe pulled out one of her braids during the assault, leaving her with a bald patch.
In a victim impact statement read before the court, Mayson said the incident had significantly affected her physically and emotionally.
She said the injury damaged her confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, adding that seeing the bald patch in the mirror served as a constant reminder of the assault.
Despite describing continuing feelings of fear, Mayson said she felt compassion for Ibe and that forgiveness had formed part of her healing process.
Ibe, who represented himself during the sentencing hearing, expressed remorse and accepted responsibility for his conduct.
“I made a serious mistake,” he told the court.
“I understand it is wrong. I am genuinely remorseful. I’ve had to look at myself in the mirror. I cannot change what I did, but will take responsibility for what I do next.”
Ibe initially pleaded not guilty to the charge in March but changed his plea to guilty when the matter came up at Croydon Magistrates’ Court in July.
The footballer made 58 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions after joining the club in 2012. He subsequently played for Bournemouth, Derby County and Birmingham City.
He most recently played for Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Sofia before leaving the club in June 2026.
