Former First Vice President of the NBA and former branch Chairman, Port Harcourt branch of Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Akuro George is dead.
TheNigerialayer(TNL) gathered that the senior member of the Port Harcourt branch died in the early hours of Monday after a brief illness.
Late Chief Akuro George has been in active legal practice for over 30 years before his demise. He was a principal partner of Akuro R. George & Associates (Tamunokuro Chambers)
Chief obtained his LL.B from the University of Nigeria in 1980 and was called to the bar the following year. He was also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).
He was the 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association under Olisa Agbakoba SAN.
He had served as Secretary, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman respectively of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt branch. Member of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association from 1998 – 2014, Committee of Chairmen and Secretaries where he moved the motion for the resuscitation of the Nigerian Bar Association in Jos – 1997; Member of the Body of Benchers April 2007 – January 2011, 1st Co-Chair Project 2011 Swift Count where we set up a group of observers nationwide for elections in the country, which he coordinated.
