A Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has requested the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to furnish him a copy of the instrument that set up the judicial panel of inquiry and a copy of the directive that declared curfew across the state.

Effiong disclosed this in his letter dated 25th October, addressed to the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made available to TheNigerialawyer(TNL).
He is also demanding the CCTV recordings of all shootings that took place at Lekki toll gate, in Lagos.
In a letter with the title “REQUEST FOR CCTV RECORDS OF LEKKI TOLL GATE ATTACK”, Inibehe, said his harmless request is premised on the Freedom of Information Act 2011.
Effiong said the instruments will enhance his representation of individuals before the panel adding that refusal of the request will undermine the governor’s commitment towards the transparent and honest investigation.
“I hereby undertake to pay the cost of the certification or/ and any applicable administrative fees.
“Sir, I urgently require the CTC of the said Instruments and the CCTV records to enable me to participate and properly represent victims at the Panel. It will also be in the overall public interest for these documents to be released to me timeously as that will enhance public confidence in the Panel’s investigation.”
He said it is in his considered view that refusal of this innocuous FOI request will undermine your commitment to a credible, honest and transparent investigation into abuses by SARS in Lagos State and the remote and immediate cause(s) of the infamous attack on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos on October 20, 2020.”
“Kindly see this request as a good opportunity to honour your oath of office and advance your pledge to ensure that truth and justice prevail.”
Recall that this tomorrow will be a week the Nigerian soldiers opened fire on civilian protesters in Lekki toll gate, killing at least nine.
TheNigerialawyer(TNL), recalls that the Minister for Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Sunday, discovered a hidden camera at the Lekki Toll Gate, Admiralty Circle, in Lagos while inspecting the area of the shootings.
