Human Rights Activist & Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has strongly condemned the killing of #EndSARS protesters by security agencies at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State.

In a statement titled “KILLING OF #EndSARS PROTESTERS IS UNACCEPTABLE”, which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, the learned silk noted that it is unfortunate and unacceptable.

“It is unacceptable to open fire on armless and defenceless citizens. Reports of shooting by soldiers at Lekki Toll Gate is most barbaric and unacceptable. These protesters have been the most orderly, most organized and most peaceful so far.”

He stated that the #EndSARS protesters have been very peaceful in their approach and the security should have been deployed to violence based areas.

“These are children holding nothing but the flags of their nation. What the security should have done was to go to the zones of violence and wanton destruction and stop the thugs and criminals, not these innocent children.”

“Even though we identify with the government on the need to restore law and order, there are other means to do that without resorting to using live bullets on these future leaders”, he added.

In addition, he stated “that the protest itself was against police brutality” and urged protesters to comply with the Government imposed curfew.

“I call on the protesters to comply with the curfew imposed in demonstration of their commitment to the rule of law and due process.”

Finally, he called on the security agencies to desist from further assaulting the protesters and urged Government to bring perpetrators to book.

“I urge the security to cease further assault on the protesters. Government must identify all those responsible and bring them to justice.

“I’m heart broken”, he concluded.

TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that the Lagos State Government had earlier imposed a 24-hour curfew on the State with effect from Tuesday.
