The Senate will reconvene on Tuesday, February 17, at 11 a.m., Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Emmanuel Odo, has announced.

According to Odo, the notice was issued under the directive of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging all senators to adjust their schedules to ensure attendance. He emphasized that critical decisions on national issues are expected during the session.

“I am directed by the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to inform all distinguished senators that the Senate will reconvene plenary session as follows: Date: Tuesday, February 17, by 11 a.m. Consequently, all distinguished senators are kindly requested to note and reschedule their engagements accordingly to enable them to attend, as very crucial decisions will be taken on national issues during the session,” Odo said.

The Senate had last week held an emergency plenary session to address the controversy surrounding the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2026, despite having earlier adjourned sittings until February 24.

The upcoming session is seen as pivotal, as senators are expected to deliberate on pressing national matters and provide guidance on legislative priorities in the coming weeks.
