The Kaduna State High Court has ordered the Controller of the Kaduna Correctional Facility to appear before it.

The court is hearing the case of the founder of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as ‘Shi’ites’, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat.

The court at the resuming hearing stood down proceedings till 12pm on Monday to hear from the controller on why El-Zakzaky’s wife was allegedly disallowed from seeing her personal physician while being held at the correctional centre.

One of the counsels for El-Zakzaky, Abubakar Marshal, had earlier told the court, presided over by Justice Gideon Kurada, that Zeenat was refused access to her personal physician contrary to the order of the court.

Against this backdrop, the trial judge ordered that the Controller of the Correctional Centre appeared before the court to give reasons on why doctors were allegedly disallowed from attending to Zeenat while in their custody.

Justice Kurada subsequently stood down proceedings till 12pm even as the Shi’ites leader had yet to take his plea.

The IMN leader and his wife were in court.
