The Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has urged Nigerians not to condemn the entire police force over the misconduct of a few officers.

His remarks came in response to a strongly worded post by an X.com user, #torty_mercy, who wrote, “I hate the Nigerian police! I can’t even say it as it is in my heart! I hate those monsters!”

Reacting on Sunday via his official X.com account, Adejobi called for a more balanced view of the force and its personnel.

He wrote, “Don’t condemn the police force. Don’t hate the Nigeria Police Force and its officers. You can dislike the attitudes or misconduct of a very few ones who rubbish the profession.

“When you meet many of the officers of the force, you will love them and appreciate the force better.”

He acknowledged the existence of erring officers within the system but maintained they represent a minority.

“We agree that we have a few recalcitrant individuals, and these ones are very infinitesimal; and they can still be reformed to be good ambassadors of the force,” he said.

The FPRO also emphasised that public support is crucial to meaningful reform saying, “We need to collectively work together to reform the police, not to condemn the noble profession.”
