Newgate University, Minna, has appointed renowned legal luminary, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, OFR, SAN (Life Bencher), as its pioneer Chancellor. The announcement was made via an official letter dated May 28, 2025, and signed by the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Malam Hassan Nuhu (Mayanan Minna).

In the letter, Malam Nuhu praised Chief Gadzama’s distinguished legal career and long-standing contributions to national development, the legal profession, and the educational sector. He described the appointment as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the University’s leadership as it strives to establish itself as a major force in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
Chief Gadzama formally accepted the appointment in a letter dated May 29, 2025, expressing gratitude and humility. “I am deeply honoured to accept this appointment,” he wrote. “I pledge to serve with integrity and to contribute meaningfully to the growth of this promising institution.”
He further reaffirmed his dedication to promoting legal excellence, educational advancement, and national development, pledging to bring his wealth of experience to bear in advancing the mission and vision of the University.
Founded in 2022 following the grant of its operational license by the Federal Executive Council, Newgate University, Minna, is a rapidly growing institution committed to excellence in teaching, innovative research, and the development of human capital.
