His Lordship, Hon. Justice Oyebiola Oyewumi of the National Industrial Court, Abuja Judicial Division has granted an order of interim injunction restraining Minister of Education, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, their Agents, servants, representatives and Privies from giving effect to the appointment of Professor Armayau Bichi or any other person as substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Justice Oyewumi made the order sequel to an ex parte application filed by the applicant Professor Haruna Kaita through his counsel, Bello Ibrahim Esq.

Professor Abdul Kaita, in the exparte application, had prayed the court to restrain the minister of education, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, their agents, servants, and privies from giving effect to the appointment of Professor Armayau Hamisu Bichi or any other person as the substantive vice-chancellor of federal university Dutsin-ma, Katsina state.

“And he (Professor Armayau Bichi) be restrained from occupying the office of the vice-chancellor, from performing the duties and functions of the vice-chancellor, and from parading him as the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Dutsin-Ma however, pending the determination of the motion in the notice.”

After listening to the applicant’s counsel, the trial Judge, Justice Oyewumi granted the prayers, ordered that motion on notice and hearing notices be served on the defendants within 48hours, and adjourned till 17th June 2020 for hearing.
