An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 34-year-old driver, Segun Falola, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over the alleged abduction and defilement of a 14-year-old girl.

Chief Magistrate C.M. Kushanu made the order on Tuesday after Falola was brought before the court on charges bordering on abduction and defilement.
The court did not take the defendant’s plea and directed that he remain in custody until September 30, 2026, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Police prosecutor Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court that the alleged offences occurred between April 3 and April 24 in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.
According to the prosecution, Falola allegedly abducted the teenager while she was travelling from Alakuko to Agege.
Ademigbuji alleged that the defendant subsequently lured the girl into a house where she was sexually assaulted.
The prosecutor further told the court that Falola was arrested after the victim’s mobile phone was tracked to Oyo State, where she was allegedly being kept.
Falola, who was said to reside at No. 1 Adepoju Street, Alakuko, Lagos, is facing allegations under Sections 137 and 268 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 137 of the Lagos law criminalises sexual intercourse with a child and prescribes life imprisonment upon conviction. The Lagos State Ministry of Justice has previously confirmed the provision as the statutory basis for prosecution for defilement.
The court, however, has not made any finding of guilt against Falola.
Kushanu ordered that he remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre while the prosecution awaits the DPP’s legal advice.
The matter was adjourned until September 30 for further proceedings.
Falola remains presumed innocent unless and until the allegations against him are proved before a competent court.
