The Anambra State High Court has issued an amended order for its 2025 annual vacation, as announced by Honourable Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu, Chief Judge of Anambra State.
The revised schedule, detailed in a public notice dated July 16, 2025, adjusts the court’s vacation period and appoints vacation judges to handle urgent matters during the break, superseding an earlier order from June 27, 2025.
Pursuant to Order 46 Rules 4(d), 5(1), and 6 of the Anambra State High Court Rules, 2019, as amended, the Chief Judge declared the following:
- Vacation Period: The High Court of Justice of Anambra State will observe its annual vacation from Friday, August 1, 2025, to Monday, September 15, 2025. The court will resume official business on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
- Court Operations During Vacation:
- The time for filing and serving pleadings will be suspended unless otherwise ordered by the court.
- Cases or matters may be heard with the consent of all parties involved.
- Interlocutory and other urgent miscellaneous applications will be addressed.
- Vacation Judges: The following judges have been appointed to sit as vacation judges at the High Court of Justice in Awka during the vacation period:
- Hon. Justice O. M. Anyachebelu
- Hon. Justice A. O. Okuma
- Hon. Justice D. A. Onyefulu
- Hon. Justice F. I. Anukwu
- Citation: The order is officially cited as the High Court of Justice Anambra State of Nigeria Annual Vacation and Appointment of Vacation Judges Amended Order 2025.
The amended order ensures continuity of essential judicial functions during the vacation period by allowing urgent matters to be addressed, thereby minimizing disruptions to justice delivery.
