Mr. Alegeh was speaking on corruption and role of law officers at the 1st Annual Conference of the Law Officers Association (LOAN) in Abuja yesterday. He said that the law officers were often faced with a dilemma because “there exists the constant threat of being fired by their political superiors if they fail to do their bidding.” Alegeh claimed that the law officers will only be able to fight corruption in the country once the government effectively “toes the right path.” A former minister of state, petroleum, Odein Ajumogobia who was Chairman at the occasion said that fighting corruption should not be left to members of LOAN alone and government policies against corruption must align with the rule of law.]]>
