To further douse the tension raised by recent alarm raised by the United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK) in their travel advisory, President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned an emergency security meeting for Monday.

The US and UK recently warned their citizens against travelling to some States in Nigeria, categorically warning of terror threats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), setting off panic in the city and forcing businesses and other activities to shut down in panic.

However, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari called an emergency security meeting for Monday morning, setting aside earlier scheduled national events.

The President had been scheduled to commission an infrastructure built by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Monday morning. The event was put off for a new date.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday meet with security chiefs in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to further review and strengthen security network in the country.

“The President, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, will receive briefs from the security chiefs, and interject on areas that need more attention.

“The commissioning of the NASENI complex will hold on a later date,” the statement reads.
