Tambuwal who was Speaker when the Electoral Act was amended just before the 2015 election said “The president’s reason is laidback.” “Amendments were done while I was Speaker and not only once. President Muhammadu Buhari of today is not interested in free and fair election. APC is looking for a shortcut to get back to Aso Rock, and they are doing everything humanly possible to take us back from the gains of 2015 in improving our electoral system, and they are desperate.” Tambuwal, however, said his party, PDP, will insist that votes must count since the president has refused to sign the bill into law. “We are responding by going to the people; we have been campaigning. We will insist that votes must count, it is not negotiable.
