The Nigerian Bar Association Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF), Onitsha Branch, is set to host a critical session focused on career advancement and professional development for Nigeria’s emerging legal talents. The online knowledge-sharing event, titled “Bridging the Gap – Career Development and the Future of Young Lawyers in Nigeria,” will take place this Saturday, March 29, 2025.

The session features distinguished legal practitioner Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe as the guest speaker who will address the pressing challenges facing young legal practitioners in today’s rapidly evolving professional landscape.

“In Igbo culture, we say: ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ The same is true for young lawyers. Success in this profession is not a solo journey; it thrives on mentorship, guidance, and strong networks,” notes one of the session’s organizers.

The NBA-YLF Onitsha Knowledge Series aims to create structured pathways for young lawyers to access opportunities, develop career growth strategies, and build supportive professional networks. The forum recognizes that while young Nigerian lawyers demonstrate remarkable dedication and wisdom – qualities described in Igbo as “Igba mbo” (hard work) and “Uche” (wisdom) – these attributes must be complemented by intentional mentorship and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

“Mentorship, career advancement, and knowledge-sharing should not be left to chance. We must be intentional in equipping young lawyers with the right tools to navigate the evolving legal landscape,” emphasized the event announcement.

The event will be moderated by David Chibueze Njoku ACIMC, ACIArb(UK), ALIFIN, with Moran C. Daniel Esq. MCIArb U.K, Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum, NBA Onitsha Branch, serving as host for guest speaker Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe.
