The Benue State Government has declared a one-week Easter holiday for its workers across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary (General Services), Godwin Tighil, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Deborah Aber.

The statement, titled “Declaration of Public Holiday To Mark Easter Celebration,” asked workers in the state to commence the Easter holiday from Tuesday, March, 31, 2026 and resume on April 8, 2026.

It read, “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has directed that all public and civil servants should embark on the Easter holiday, effective Tuesday, 31st March, 2026, by 1 pm.

‎”However, those on essential services are directed to remain at their duty posts to attend to issues of human and urgent public interests.

‎”Accordingly, work is to resume on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. His Excellency wishes Benue people happy holidays and urged citizens to continue to pray for the peace of the state and the nation, in the spirit of Easter celebration.”‎

‎This is the first time the governor would declare a whole week Easter holiday for workers in the state, though he had announced two weeks as holiday for Christmas.
