A lawyer, Isaac Ogbah, has insisted that Air Peace Airline is not safe.

He said this in reaction to the statement by management of the Peace Airline suggesting that the Airline is safe
Ogbah, in a Rejoinder made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL), faulted Air Peace for saying that it “did not carry all the luggage because the aircraft had reached maximum weight capacity”
He said, “aside from the hand luggage of passengers that respective passengers carried alongside themselves when they boarded, none of the luggage of the passengers that were to be lodged into the luggage compartment of the aircraft in issue were carried alongside the respective passengers that boarded the flight.”
Ogbah said several of the passengers who boarded the flight and who were affected with the luggage issue recorded the conversations that ensued between passengers and officials of the Air-Piece and other several FAAN/NCAA officials that came in to help salvage the situations.
From the audio, according to Ogbah, the following evidence are deduced:
“A. The flight in question did not carry any of the luggage of the passengers along with the plane, aside the various hand luggage.
“B. Passengers and hand luggage, in no way, cannot constitute weight capacity of an aircraft that would prevent any other luggage from being carried onboard an aircraft, talkless the big air piece aircraft in issue that carried about 100 passengers.
“C. Air-Piece has admitted that the plane in question has weight restriction related issues.
“D. Since non of the luggage of passengers in issue boarded the flight in issue, aside the hand luggage whose weight could not have become a restrain for the aircraft not to carry the other luggage that should have been boarded in the luggage compartment of the aircraft, the onus now lies with the management of the aircraft to give tenable reasons why the luggage’s were not boarded and not these lies they are now telling the whole world
“E. Good enough our flight in issue was not the only one that had similar issues”
Ogbah called on the Air-Piece Airline to be bold enough to admit their faults as well as apologize for not informing the passengers that their luggage were not going to be carried with the flight in issue
He also urged them to “admit as well as apologies to their numerous passengers involved in the flight in issue for refusing to carry their luggage on grounds of the aircraft not being able to carry the passengers alongside their luggage bearing in mind the weight restrictions the aircraft is limited to”
The statement reads in part,
“good enough Air-Peace management in their press release stated in clear terms that ‘…While saying that it would have been unsafe and dangerous to do otherwise…’
“Hence upon an investigation being carried out by FAAN and or NCAA and same revealing the indisputable fact that all the luggage of passengers (and not some luggage) never boarded the flight in issue but they had to be conveyed to Lagos from Abuja through other flights including but not limited to Arik Airline, Dana Air, etc rather than through the flight in issue, then Air-Piece truly risked the lives of its passengers in allowing an aircraft with weight restrictions issues to embark on the journey in issue.”
Furthermore, Ogbah said Mr. Chinonso, a top management staff of Air-Piece along with other staff of the airline did not deny the facts thrown to them. Hence Mr. Olisa saying that ‘it’s a safety measure that is known worldwide”
According to Ogbah, “There is no safety measure that is known worldwide where all luggage (and not some luggage after some luggage would have been loaded into the aircraft and the maximum weight of the aircraft reached) before other luggage would be conveyed vide another aircraft.
“Mr. Olisa should also be bold enough to respond to the issue why management of their airline failed in their duty to inform the passengers that their luggage would not be onboard the aircraft in issue.
“In the event, they now admit to all these failures they should tender an unreserved apology rather than make flimsy excuses and tell bundles of lies that cannot distort the facts.
This speaks for itself.
“Rather than apologize they are deceiving the whole world.
“I am worried so that lives would not be lost through this carelessness on the part of the airline and the regulatory authorities turning a blind eye. other luggage would be conveyed vide another aircraft.”
TNL recalls that Isaac Ogbah had raised concern regarding the safety of lives of those using Air-peace P47121
He said he boarded the flight from Abuja to Lagos without his luggage. It took agitations from the passengers for the officials of the Air-peace P47121 to explain that the air aircraft was having “weight restrictions issues” that was why it could not carry passengers along with their luggage.
Ogbah said there is a need for relevant authorities to investigate the situation to avoid incidences that can throw the aviation industry into an avoidable crisis.
