Bauchi North Senatorial candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Faruk Mustapha, has presented evidence to the election petition tribunal to support his submission against the victory of Adamu Bulkachuwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mustapha is claiming that he is the lawful winner of the election having scored the highest number of votes at the 1,419 polling units in the seven local governments of the zone.

He said he was allegedly awarded 92,000 votes while his opponent, Bulkachuwa, was allocated 110,000 votes by INEC and declared the winner.

Counsel to Mustapha, Barr Joe Dappa, presented electoral documents including results allegedly declared at all the polling units of the constituency, card reader printout reports, candidates’ list for Senate and voters’ registers among others.

However, counsels to Bulkachuwa led by Barr Raphel Adekola, said they reserved their objection to the exhibits presented until the presentation of all the petitioners’ evidences had been completed.

It could be recalled that Mustapha dragged Bulkachuwa, the INEC Returning Officer for Bauchi North Senatorial election, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged manipulation of the election results.

Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman who presided over the tribunal sitting adjourned the sitting to 16th and 17th July.
