The All Progressives Congress (APC) has again demonstrated confidence in the leadership capacity and strategic acumen of Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, with his appointment as Secretary of the Central Coordination Committee for the party’s 2026 National Convention.

The 73-member high-powered committee was constituted by the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to oversee preparations for the crucial national convention that will shape the party’s future direction.

Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma, was named Chairman of the committee, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman.

According to Yusuf Ali, Focal Person, Digital and Strategic Communications to Governor Buni, his appointment as Secretary further “underscores his pivotal role in the internal stability, reforms, and strategic coordination of the ruling party.”

Buni currently chairs the APC Strategy, Conflict Resolution, and Mobilisation Committee, a body credited with strengthening party cohesion nationwide.

He also serves as Chairman of the Committee for the Review of the APC Constitution and the Expansion of the National Executive Committee (NEC)—key assignments central to the party’s reform agenda.

Widely regarded as one of the party’s most experienced administrators and consensus builders, Governor Buni brings to the assignment his proven track record in party organisation, reconciliation, and institutional development, having previously led major national committees of the APC.

The establishment of the Central Coordination Committee marks the formal commencement of preparations for the 2026 National Convention, a landmark event expected to define the APC’s leadership structure and strategic outlook ahead of future electoral contests.

Governor Buni’s central role in this process highlights his continued influence and trusted position within the highest decision-making circles of the party.
