Nigerian actress, Angela Okorie, has been reportedly re-arrested over her alleged refusal to pay the lawyer who secured her bail from Suleja prison.

Angela was re-arrested at the Suleja prison on Tuesday, immediately she was released on bail.

This came less than an hour after actor Stanley Ontop raised the alarm over an alleged plan to re-arrest the actress after release on Tuesday.

Speaking in a video on Instagram, actress Doris Ogala, who said she is already on her way to the police station, stated that the actress was re-arrested by an unnamed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for refusing to pay the N5 million agreed fee to secure her bail.

Doris said: “You see, one thing is for someone to cut their coat according to their size. Angela has been arrested again. As a matter of fact, I’m going to the police station now. You see, when Angela was arrested by Mercy, she called a friend of hers or village person, I don’t know how they relate, to help her get a SAN.”

“And the SAN charged them N5 million. I think the SAN was the one who even facilitated the bail and all that. Now when Angela knew that they have granted her bail according to the lady, Angela started saying that she didn’t ask her to get a SAN and she wasn’t going to pay the money, and meanwhile this lady has deposited.”

TheNigerialawyer reports that Angela, who was granted bail on Friday after her arrest by Mercy Johnson over alleged defamation, regained her freedom few minutes ago after perfecting her bail conditions before being immediately re-arrested.

In her Instagram video, Doris Ogala stated: “You see, one thing is for someone to cut their coat according to their size. You see, Angela has been re-arrested again. As a matter of fact, I’m going to the police station now. You see, when Angela was arrested by the police rather, she called a friend of hers or a village person, I don’t know how they are related, to help get her a SAN, which she did, and the SAN charged her five million naira.”

"Angela Started Saying She Didn't Ask For A SAN And She Wasn't Going To Pay" — Doris Ogala — Says Friend Had Engaged SAN For N5 Million, Already Deposited Money

“Well, I think the SAN was the one who even facilitated the bail and all that. Now, when Angela knew that they granted her bail, according to the lady, Angela started speculating that she didn’t ask her to get a SAN, and she wasn’t going to pay the money. And meanwhile, this lady has deposited.”

The re-arrest occurred at the Suleja prison immediately after Angela Okorie was released on bail, turning what should have been a moment of freedom into another detention.

Angela Okorie was granted bail on Friday following her arrest over alleged defamation of fellow actress Mercy Johnson, and had just perfected her bail conditions on Tuesday before the re-arrest.

The core of the dispute appears to be that Angela Okorie is claiming she did not authorize the engagement of the SAN who charged N5 million for securing her bail, while the person who engaged the SAN on her behalf has already deposited money.

The identity of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria who facilitated the bail and is now seeking payment of the N5 million legal fee has not been disclosed.

Actress Doris Ogala, who broke the news, stated she was already on her way to the police station at the time of making the video announcement on Instagram.
