Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, former Vice-Chairman of the defunct Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative has dragged Tosin Ojaomo, before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for alleged misconduct by gaining undue publicity contrary to the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Ojaomo was the former prosecutor for the Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property, while the petitioner accused him of misconduct “by stating untrue position of facts against me in The PUNCH newspaper of June 7, 2020.”
The petitioner stated that the publication of Sunday PUNCH on 7th June, 2020 wherein the Lawyer alleged how Tijjani and his brother, Ibrahim, an ex-Director of Finance and Administration at the defunct Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, recovered in suspicious circumstances 86 exotic cars and real estate confiscated from them by the SPIP on the orders of a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, in 2018.
The Lawyer had asked the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to prosecute the Tumsah brothers for corruption.
In a petition written to the ICPC by the Lawyer, dated 20th May, 2020 he stated that the property included four houses in Wuse 2 and Jabi, a quarry plant in Kuje, Abuja, as well as 86 exotic vehicles comprising Wrangler SUV, Audi ASL, Toyota Hilux van, Ford Taurus, Mercedes Benz S550, Mercedes Benz GL 550, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado SUV and many other expensive car models.
The Lawyer in the petition stated that “the property had been unsealed under suspicious circumstances and returned to two firms, Integrated Service Insurance Limited and Integrated Bureau De Change Limited belonging to the defendants, who were arraigned on two counts.”
The petitioner stated that what the Lawyer did vide the publication was meant “to gain undue publicity for his practice contrary to rules 32(a)(c)(f)(g)(h)(j)(k),33 and 37 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners.”
Conversely, the Lawyer has stated that the petition was “a gambit to stop the investigation of my petition to the ICPC against him and his brother, Ibrahim.”
Meanwhile, the LPDC has slated 9th day of November, 2020 for the hearing of the petition.
