A former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Imo State, Chief Cyprian Akaolisa has refuted the allegation of bankrolling the activities of the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra and its militant wing, Eastern Security Network.
Akaolisa made the denial in a statement he personally signed and made available to our correspondent in Owerri, Imo State at the weekend
He described the allegation as demonic, ill-inspired and intentionally defamatory of his character.
According to him, the campaign of calumny was a continued project of the separatists to damage his reputation because of his steadfast support for the administration of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Akaolisa disclosed that the evil orchestration by the separatist began 2020 after he granted interview in which he vowed to prosecute the ESN hoodlums who were responsible for the killing of policemen and unarmed civilians in Orlu Zone.
He said he also publicly endorsed the invitation to the armed forces by the state government to flush out the ESN miscreants from the zone, disclosing that thereafter he became the target of evil orchestration leading to the burning down of his personal house and his father’s property in Orsu.
He stated that the present smear campaign was not surprising to him as it was aimed at tarnishing the image of stakeholders who had been unrelenting in the fight against insecurity in Orsu.
The ex-AG stated that indigenes of Orsu did not at any time invite the IPoB or ESN to protect them from Fulani herders, stressing that Orsu had not seen any Fulani herders in their midst.
He said, “The advent of ESN has heightened kidnapping, murder, cannibalism and occultism in Igboland”.
He lauded Uzodimma for his commitment to defending Imo people from the nefarious activities of the vandals masquerading as angels of liberation.
