Juanita Broaddrick, the American author and political commentator, has publicly identified multiple accounts impersonating her online, revealing that the impostors were operating from Nigeria.

Broaddrick’s discovery came just two days after X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, introduced a new feature displaying users’ country locations, aimed at increasing transparency and reducing online impersonation.

“All my impersonators are in Nigeria,” Broaddrick posted on her X account, highlighting the immediate impact of the new tool.

Prior to the rollout, Broaddrick said she had little visibility into the origin of the accounts mimicking her identity. The country-locator feature automatically attaches a country label to user profiles, instantly revealing what had previously been hidden.

The feature is designed to curb misinformation, bot activity, and identity theft. However, it has also sparked concerns about user privacy, potential profiling, and the risk of targeted harassment.
