Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, graced the recently concluded NBA Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) Conference held in Jos, Plateau State.
The conference, themed “Uncommon Challenges in a Rapidly Changing Legal Environment,” provided a platform for the distinguished silk to interact with lawyers from across Nigeria and make significant contributions to the discourse.
At the conference, Akangbe SAN delivered a paper titled “An Overview of the Handshake Between Public Interest Litigation and Democracy,” where he notably commended the NBA and the NBA-SLP for their ongoing efforts in promoting public interest litigation. He, however, charged both bodies to intensify their efforts to further strengthen democratic governance through strategic litigation initiatives.
In a further show of support for young lawyers, Akangbe SAN financially supported participants of the Young Lawyers Debate, encouraging the NBA and SLP leadership to prioritize capacity-building programs and continue sponsoring similar youth-driven activities within the NBA structure.
He concluded his engagements by commending the NBA-SLP for organizing an insightful and thought-provoking conference, praising its relevance in addressing contemporary challenges facing legal practitioners in Nigeria.
