In a special message to the members of the branch, Aikpokpo-Martins celebrated the momentous occasion, marking 100 years since the call to the Nigerian Bar of the pioneering spirit, Asifo Egbe, Esq., on April 23, 1925. This landmark event signifies a century of legal practice in Warri, a testament to the resilience, excellence, and unwavering commitment to justice upheld by lawyers in the region.
Aikpokpo-Martins highlighted the tremendous contributions of those who paved the way for NBA-Warri’s enduring success, honoring the legacy of past leaders such as Webber Egbe, Esq. QC, SAN; Hon. Justice Ayo Irikefe, past Chief Justice of Nigeria; Dr. Mudiaga Odje, SAN, past NBA President; and Chief T. J. O. Okpoko, SAN, OON, among others. He praised their dedication, wisdom, and passion for the legal profession, which has shaped NBA-Warri’s unique and “radioactive” identity.
The NBA-Warri branch, which played a pivotal role in the formation of the Nigerian Bar Association in 1959, has produced prominent figures in the legal community, including two former NBA Presidents: Dr. Mudiaga Odje and Chief T. J. O. Okpoko, SAN, OON. Their tireless work and the collective efforts of all members have earned NBA-Warri a prestigious place in the history of the Nigerian Bar.
As the branch celebrates this significant milestone, Aikpokpo-Martins expressed confidence in NBA-Warri’s continued growth, success, and dedication to the principles of justice, integrity, and service to both the legal profession and humanity. He concluded by calling for the ongoing commitment to the values of the founding spirits and wished the branch continued excellence in the years to come.
