Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, an accomplished security management expert, has expressed surprise and disappointment at the skepticism shown by certain Nigerians regarding the impending reinstatement of civil rule in Niger Republic, facilitated by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), currently headed by President Bola Tinubu.

With a certified background in security management and strategic operations from the International Institute of Professional Security, Agbomhere asserts that under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser, Nigeria holds the capacity to rapidly stabilize Niger Republic and reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum within a mere 24 hours.

In a statement released in Abuja, Agbomhere underlines that the apprehensions expressed by some Nigerians, centered around the perceived unpreparedness of the Nigerian armed forces to promptly counteract the military junta in Niger, reflect a deficiency in patriotism pervading the country. He considers this sentiment as a continuation of previous administrations’ initial struggles in curtailing insurgent activities and banditry that impacted certain regions within Nigeria.

Agbomhere refutes that this sentiment accurately portrays the condition of the Nigerian armed forces, emphasizing that President Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief, possesses both the information and strategy required to effectively execute a swift and successful mission in Niger, without unnecessarily extending the operation and incurring undue losses among the nation’s troops.

Nonetheless, Agbomhere, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators and an advocate of the Rule of Law, maintains that dialogue remains the optimal approach to resolving the political deadlock in Niger. While advocating for peaceful resolution, he maintains that Nigeria must not evade its responsibility to uphold democratic governance in the West African subregion, even through military intervention—a role the country has historically fulfilled in countries such as Liberia, Sao Tome, Sierra Leone, and Cote D’Ivoire. This stance underscores Nigeria’s dedication to preserving democracy and stability across the region.

Agbomhere emphasizes that President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to revitalizing Nigeria is unwavering, and it is incumbent upon Nigerians to support and encourage his endeavors to restore the country’s esteemed status as the Giant of Africa.
