Following the successful ousting of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in Abia state, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia South senatorial district have expressed their determination to replicate this success in unseating Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state.

This resolute stance was voiced during the launch of the Imo governorship campaign for Tony Ejiogu, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, in Owerri.

Representing Governor Soludo, his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, underscored the significance of safeguarding the electoral process. Drawing parallels with victories in Anambra and the PDP’s defeat in Abia, Ibezim urged the people of Imo to unite in reclaiming their state and ensuring the integrity of their votes.

Senator Abaribe echoed these sentiments, urging Imo residents to actively oversee the voting process from polling units to the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prevent electoral misconduct. He emphasized the importance of choosing APGA’s candidate to usher in a period of effective governance.

Sylvester Okenwa, National Chairman of APGA, highlighted the historical link between APGA and Imo state. He emphasized the necessity of securing votes to prevent manipulation.

Tony Ejiogu, APGA’s gubernatorial candidate, outlined his vision to restore security and agricultural prosperity in Imo state. He expressed concern over the surge in violence and insecurity and pledged to prioritize safety. Ejiogu also pledged to boost agricultural productivity by ensuring the safety of farmers, enhancing agricultural potential, and promoting food security.

These declarations underline the intense political climate in Imo state as multiple parties contend for leadership, each offering distinct strategies to address key issues such as security and agriculture.
