An eminent Human Rights Activist and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has hailed the Supreme Court for refusing to grant the application for review of the judgment which sacked the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, David Lyon and his deputy, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.
The Supreme Court also ordered lawyers to the APC and Lyon, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN and Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, to pay the three Respondents the sum of N10m each making it N60m in total.
Reacting to the judgement, Adegboruwa, SAN said: It is in the interest of the State that things decided are not rescinded expressed in Latin maxim as Interest “Rei Publicae Res Jidicatas Non Rescindi”
The learned silk hails the Supreme Court judgement as being courageous “I hail the Justices of the Supreme Court for their courage and sagacity, which should be replicated in all other frivolous applications still pending for review.”
He advised that “all candidates and their parties wait for the next election. We cannot because of a four year political tenure denigrate the most sacred institution of democracy.”
