Nigeria stands to benefit quick dispensation of justice and observance to human rights, if the provisions of Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, are domesticated and implemented in states across the country. The project coordinator of the Nigerian Bar Association Legislative Advocacy and Sensitization Programme on the Domestication and Implementation of Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, Muritala Abdul-Rasheed, at a sensitisation workshop in Nassarawa State, stated that the Act is new to lawyers, judicial officers and the members of the society, are at the receiving end. In a press statement issued in Abuja, by the NBA, Abdul-Rasheed listed the benefits of implementing the ACJA, which includes but not limited to speedy dispensation of justice and the observance of human rights. He stated that in its bid to promote the purpose of the Act, the NBA under the present administration of A.B Mahmoud, SAN, has partnered with MacArthur Foundation to promote the implementation of the Act in 28 States of the Federation. The project, he said has a life span of 3 years. The projct coordinator emphasised the purpose of the workshop, adding that it is to ensure the speedy passage of the bill by the legislature in Nassarawa State. He called for the support and cooperation of all participants and partners in implementing the outcomes of the sensitisation workshop without any delays. On his part, the chief judge of Nassarawa State, Justice Sulaiman Dikko, commended the project coordinator for making Nassarawa one of the States for the sensitisation workshop and encouraged active participation and contribution from all participants.]]>
