Awomukwu community in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State became the centre of national attention on December 27 as eminent Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Monday Ubani, laid his mother, Late Nsomma Gladys Ubani, to eternal rest in a ceremony that blended honour, legacy, and unity.

The burial was far from a quiet affair, unfolding instead as a grand celebration of a life well lived. From the early hours, dignitaries, traditional rulers, legal luminaries, captains of industry, and cultural leaders converged on Awomukwu, effectively placing the state on hold as the town hosted a national gathering of influence, prestige, and cultural pride.

The ambience of the event was both solemn and celebratory. Colourful and tasteful decorations, carefully arranged seating, and seamless coordination created a setting that reflected the values of the late matriarch while balancing reflection with festivity. Guests moved through the venue with admiration, soaking in the atmosphere of gratitude and respect.

Dr. Ubani and his wife were visibly moved as they received attendees and paid their final respects to their mother and mother-in-law. Their composure, humility, and grace were a testament to the matriarch’s enduring legacy of discipline, integrity, and unity.

The occasion attracted high-profile political presence, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Senate President Godswill Akpabio. They were joined by senators, members of the House of Representatives, state lawmakers, and top government officials, reinforcing the national significance of the event.

Entertainment and glamour added a festive dimension to the burial. Music sensation KCee Limpopo and Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo entertained guests, while business mogul E Money arrived with an entourage that drew admiration and attention, blending prestige with celebration.

Hospitality was exceptional, with guests treated to an array of local delicacies and intercontinental cuisines, reflecting the generosity and open-heartedness of the Ubani family.

In his address of appreciation, Dr. Ubani thanked God for strength and expressed profound gratitude to all who supported his family. He noted that the overwhelming turnout transformed a moment of grief into a celebration of the values his late mother embodied, turning the burial into a powerful national tribute to a woman whose 90 years on earth left a lasting imprint on family, community, and society.
