Daudu SAN Bows Out as Chairman LPDC, Emmanuel Ukala SAN in as new LPDC Chairman * 119 Cases were disposed of * As 22 Cases are pending before the LPDC A total of 141 cases were attended to under the tenure of J.B Daudu, SAN, TheNigerialawyer (TNL) had learnt. This fact was affirmed in the valedictory speech in honour of the learned silk, which was held at the LPDC court hall in the Court of Appeal headquarters, Abuja. The record disclosed that out of the number of cases attended to, 119 were disposed of while twenty-two (22) of them are already pending. TNL gathered further that respondents in 52 of the cases disposed of were declared not liable by the court while respondents in 34 of the cases were found guilty of professional misconduct and thus, disbarred. Those suspended were 22 in numbers, while two legal practitioners had their names restored back to the roll of legal practitioners. In a speech that is more like an ode, J.B. Daudu was celebrated for introducing a law Report for the LPDC Directions and Rulings which have helped to ease directions for legal practitioners in general. The Former Bar-Head and Chairman of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), was said to have mounted the seat of the disciplinary body when the legal profession was faced with the challenge of cleansing the system of allegations of professional misconduct. The newly elected chairman of the committee, Emmanuel Ukala SAN, described Daudu as a man who upholds the wheel of justice and has set a template, which the new committee should follow. Others who spoke at the event also eulogized the learned silk for his effort in re-positioning the legal profession on the path of honour and respect.]]>
