Enang said that with the action the two bills have come into effect as laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He noted that the Diaspora Commission Act establishes the Commission under the supervisioory jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Commission, he said, has the responsibility to co-ordinate and organize Nigerians in and from the Diaspora to contribute human capital and material resources, including their expertise for the development of Nigeria and its constituent states. It will also provide a database of Nigerians on various fields and potentialities as resource base for Nigeria and the world to draw from, as well as protecting the interest of all Nigerians in the Diaspora, Enang added. He said that the Petroleum Training Institute (Amendment) Act on the other hand is to bring the provisions thereof in conformity with the constitution, allowing for due process in the administrative action affecting the principal officers and staff of the institute.
