The NJC, the apex body for the nation’s judiciary, is one of the federal executive bodies created by virtue of Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution as amended to entrench and preserve independent judiciary; ensure commitment to rule of law and financially autonomous judiciary amongst others. Saleh, according to his appointment letter was to resume on July 1, 2017, however it was learnt that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen, had directed Haliru to handover on June 30, since July 1 fell on a weekend. Meanwhile, Haliru, who was the pioneer Executive Secretary of the NJC, has proceeded on retirement after attaining the age of 60 years in line with the civil service directions. Similarly, Mrs Hadizatu Uwani Mustapha, whose appointment as the new Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court was approved by Justice Onnoghen on May 31, 2017, equally took over from Saleh on Friday. Saleh on November 24, 2014 took over as the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court from Sunday Olorundahunsi who was appointed by the NJC as a Judge of the Ondo State High Court. Saleh, before his appointment was Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of Litigation in the Supreme Court. He was born in Hadejia, Jigawa State in 1969 where he completed both his primary and secondary schools, Saleh, who was called to the Bar in 1996, holds both first and second degrees in Law from the Usman Danfodio University in Sokoto and Bayero University, Kano respectively.]]>
