The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is fully operational again after a temporary disruption and has urged tertiary institutions to accelerate the 2026/2027 admission exercise.

In its update on Monday, September 28, the Board said institutions should make up for the time lost during the outage and complete admissions within the agreed deadlines. It also advised candidates to accept admission offers promptly.
JAMB gave October 31, 2026, as the deadline for public universities, November 30 for private universities, and December 31 for other tertiary institutions. Candidates who had been awaiting the release of their 2026 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination results were advised to upload or verify the results so that institutions can consider their applications.
The restoration follows JAMB’s September 24 notice that CAPS was temporarily unavailable because of technical challenges associated with the platform’s hosting arrangements. At the time, the Board said it was engaging the hosting organisation to restore the service. The outage occurred while institutions and candidates were using CAPS to process and respond to admission offers.
CAPS is the system through which tertiary institutions process admissions and candidates confirm offers. JAMB apologised for the inconvenience caused by the interruption and thanked stakeholders for their patience.
