The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Aminu Adamu, alongside two alleged accomplices over a midnight robbery in which his own mother and siblings were reportedly dispossessed of ₦200,000 cash, mobile phones and other valuables at their family residence in Yola.

Police identified the other suspects as Adamu Mamman and Nuhu Umar, both aged 22 and residents of Wuro Kuturu, Nassarawo, in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said in a statement that the alleged robbery took place at about midnight on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the family residence in Wuro Kuturu, in the Jimeta area of Yola.
According to the police, Aminu allegedly conspired with Mamman and Umar, armed themselves with dangerous weapons and gained entry into the home occupied by his mother and siblings.
The suspects allegedly made away with ₦200,000 in cash, two mobile phones and a power bank during the operation.
The matter, however, came to the attention of the police after the victim lodged a complaint, prompting operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command to commence an investigation.
Police said the investigation led to the arrest of Aminu and the two other suspects on Thursday, September 17, two days after the alleged robbery.
During the arrests, officers reportedly recovered a knife, pliers and scissors from the suspects.
The police also said various substances suspected to be hard drugs and a quantity of suspected Indian hemp were recovered.
According to the command, the three suspects allegedly admitted their involvement in the robbery during interrogation.
The police account said Aminu allegedly participated in planning and carrying out the attack against his own family alongside the two other suspects.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has consequently directed investigators to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish the individual roles allegedly played by each suspect.
The Commissioner also ordered that the suspects be diligently prosecuted upon completion of the investigation.
The command said the investigation would also examine the weapons and other items recovered in connection with the case.
Police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property across Adamawa State and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to security agencies.
